Chikae + Matt, A Boston Elopement

These next couple posts have been a long time coming. I was out sick for a couple weeks (not fun, during wedding season!) and then have been playing everyone’s favorite game: Catch-Up.

Lucky for me, I love my job 🙂

So, this adorable couple is Chikae and Matt! You might remember them from their engagement. And here they are, newly hitched.

I loved this. Chikae and Matt planned a very different kind of wedding. For example, check out these rings. They’re made of lacquered wood.

They planned a guerrilla ceremony in the middle of the Boston Pubic Gardens. They had a tree picked out and everything where they planned to meet. Here’s Matt, asking a couple to vacate the spot so they can have their moment 🙂 Everyone gathered around the tree to start, and then Chikae’s parents went to escort Chikae out from around the corner outside the gardens.Matt’s sister officiated the ceremony, with a script written by Chikae and Matt. High-five!And then we spend the next couple hours walking around Boston, touring the family and taking photos. Chikae insisted on this. Happily, my face is covered 🙂 When Matt proposed to Chikae, he planned her a scavenger hunt around the city. The route we walked more or less followed the path that Chikae did, complete with a stop at Red Mango! It was a perfectly timed stop, partially because we had been walking for hours and partially to use the bathroom so Matt and Chikae could change into some traditional Japanese clothing.
Impromptu dance party.
